Jessica McGlade is the Owner and Lead Designer of JM Design Studio. Interior design has been a lifelong passion that began at a young age. From constantly rearranging her childhood bedroom and imagining future home layouts, to pursuing formal education at Algonquin College, Jessica’s journey into the world of design has been driven by a love for creating spaces that feel both beautiful and functional. She sees potential in every project and approaches each client relationship and design process with excitement, eagerly anticipating the impactful transformation of the final result.
With over a decade of experience working for full-service design-build firms and new home design, Jessica eventually took the bold step of founding JM Design Studio in 2020. What began as a casual venture into entrepreneurship quickly grew into a full-time business, fueled by passion and word-of-mouth referrals. Specializing in residential design, Jessica brings a thoughtful, personalized approach to each project, overseeing every detail from initial concepts to final styling.
At the heart of Jessica’s design philosophy is the belief that a home should be a true reflection of the people who live there. She takes pride in building strong relationships and creating spaces that reflect each client’s unique lifestyle. For Jessica, good design is about more than aesthetics-it’s about crafting environments that are tailored to the people that live in them and ultimately providing a sense of comfort and ease in a busy world.

Jessica, along with her husband, is raising a young family in Ottawa, joined by their lovable Golden Retriever.
Style
Being exposed to many different styles allows her to see the beauty in each. Her style can be described as earthy and warm, natural and timeless, with layering through textures, materials, and pattern.

Our journey begins with a friendly 30-minute phone call. We’ll discuss your project, budget, and timelines, ensuring alignment before the next steps.

In-Home Consultation
Each project starts with a paid in-home consultation. We review your space, discuss your needs, and learn as much as we can about you and your project. Following this consultation, we create a personalized Design Services Quote.
3.
Design Process
The exciting part begins! Through a 3-step process we present layout options, concept boards, materials, finishes, and more, ensuring the design aligns with your lifestyle, budget, and timeline.
4.
Implementation & Procurement
For Full Service projects, we take care of every step of the process, collaborating with trusted trades and vendors to ensure smooth execution from construction to completion.
5.
Construction
The work on site is underway. We pride ourselves on open and constant communication with the construction team to ensure efficiency and consistent progress.
6.
Final Handover
We focus on the finishing details and install furniture & styling pieces, making sure everything is perfect before handing over your beautifully completed space, ready for you to enjoy.

What a great experience working with Jessica! She is an exceptional designer who we highly recommend.
Our home experienced a major flood and required renovation on three floors. It was a stressful time requiring multiple decisions and Jessica rapidly gained our trust with her ability to maintain both the original design integrity of a Hobin architected craftsman style home while providing current day update choices. This included hardwood and tiling selections throughout, the design and selection of everything for a completely renovated ensuite bathroom, an updated staircase design, carpeting, light fixtures and paint colours selection as well as sourcing of custom French doors. Jessica is a very knowledgeable dedicated professional who did all the work to make decisions easy for us and to assure us of a beautifully renovated home.
We absolutely loved working with Jess and couldn’t thank her enough for making our home officially ours. We will be using her for all of our future renovations!
We were taking on a major main floor renovation of moving the kitchen location and taking down walls. We approached Jess after family members had highly recommended her, after their kitchen renovation experiences.
We couldn’t of been more impressed with her thorough design process. From consultation to presentation, we knew her knowledge and experience were second to none. She had given us multiple options for kitchen lay out, with features we hadn’t even thought of. Her use of mood boards allowed us to envision the direction she was leading us. She has a terrific eye for finishes and decor that brought every room to life. She transformed our older dated home to a beautiful, cohesive and functional living area for a big family to enjoy and grow.

Jessica was phenomenal in updating and designing our kitchen/main floor.
I had an idea of what I wanted to do but when I showed her some picture from my Pinterest board, she not only met my expectations, she blew us away with her design. Her ideas were not only beautiful and luxurious, it was also very practical for our busy lives with young kids. She was respectful of our budget while showing us ideas that will work well into the future. Jessica’s work was amazing and she was so sweet and easy to work with, I highly recommend her for your next home renovation.
Jessica helped us with a kitchen renovation in the fall and we are very happy with the service we received and the end result!
She was quick to respond to questions and provided multiple choices for the layout and products. Our contractors all appreciated the design binder she provided as well. She also designed a fireplace project which will be completed soon as well.

We recently had an extensive kitchen renovation completed, designed by Jessica. When we met with her she listened to what it was we wanted in our new kitchen, how we wanted it to function, and then provided us with a variety of layout options. Throughout the design process she was very responsive to our questions and walked us through each step. Jessica brought us sample materials to choose from and made the selection process very easy.
